Rob Murphy has worked in education for the last twenty years as a teacher, instructional coach, staff developer, author and graduate university instructor.   He received a master’s degree in Linguistics from Georgetown University, School Leadership & Supervision from George Mason University and is a certified reading specialist.  His work in school systems has focused on helping teachers incorporate literacy across the curriculum, improve and increase student discourse, differentiate instruction for English language learners and improve instructional practices.

He has presented at the local, state and national level.  Recent presentations have included Using Coaching to Transform School Culture, Improving Instruction through Teacher Book Groups and Motivating Adolescent Boys to Become Lifelong Readers.   Rob was the recipient of the Agnes Myer Award for Excellence in Education from The Washington Post and was a nominee for Virginia Teacher of the Year.  Rob currently works as the Director of Teaching & Learning for Cesar Chavez Public Charter Schools for Public Policy in Washington, DC.
