Katrina Griffin is the lead German teacher at North County High School in Glen Burnie, Maryland, home to one of the largest and most active German programs in the state. She received a Fulbright Scholarship to Germany after receiving a bachelor in International Politics and German from Penn State University. Katrina attended Middlebury College for her masters in German and later McDaniel College for a masters in educational administration.
Katrina serves on the board of the Maryland Foreign Language Association, and is a past president and current board member of the Maryland/DC Metro Chapter of the Association of Teachers of German. Katrina has written curriculum guides and assessments for German in Anne Arundel County and is an author of the National German Exam. Her close ties to the German Embassy led her to work with German and American policy makers to secure funding for the promotion of German language study in the U.S. She is an expert in the area of foreign language instruction and a frequent presenter at state, national, and international conferences on a variety of topics, with a special focus on the combination of STEM with world languages.
As a certified consultant for the College Board, Katrina leads workshops on AP German and is a Table Leader and Reader for the AP German Language and Culture exam. She is also a consultant for the German publisher Cornelsen Verlag, for whom she reviews and develops instructional materials. Katrina is dedicated to instructional leadership and learning as a lifelong pursuit.
